“A light in the darkness.” This phrase has been HEAVY on my mind during the last 11 weeks as I prep for my competition season this year. I can’t keep it inside any longer and I must express what is in my heart & head.
I fear that many followers of Christ are simply just playing “defense” against Satan and the evils of this world. Simply just trying to block the fiery darts of the adversary. One can play defense for only so long before you simply get tired, lose focus, & begin losing the fight. God never intended us to simply just play defense. No matter how good your defensive game is you will NEVER win any game if the ball is never in your court.
I am TIRED of seeing the saints of God losing the battle because they simply never went on the offensive. I am seeing folks left and right leaving their churches, turning their backs on God, & doubting what they once felt & knew was true. I am TIRED of seeing people’s demeanor change as they exhaust every fiber of their being simply on the defensive side of the battle. I am TIRED of seeing followers of Christ, soldiers in His army, falling on the battlefield because somewhere during the battle they forgot they actually had a weapon and simply relied on their shield to just “defend against the enemy." I am TIRED of it and I am TIRED of Satan laughing thinking he is winning the battle.
I REFUSE to just play defense in the battle we are facing today against Satan and his angels. It’s time for us to get the ball in our court and show Satan our strategy, our game-plan, & our offensive power. It’s time for Satan to hear the saints of God battle-cry, but sadly it seems we don’t even know the words.
The defensive strategy is plainly written for us in Ephesians Chapter 6(KJV). It tells us to, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
But, you can’t just stop reading there because all of what you just read only shows the “defensive” strategy. The VERY next verse explains the “offensive” strategy. It tells us to, “Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Notice the VERY last thing we are told is to take the sword which means NOW it’s our time to go on the offensive and to FIGHT.
We must STOP just playing defense against Satan and his army and we shall do exactly what we read in Isiah 8:9-10(NIV) which tells us to proclaim:
Raise the war cry, you nations, and be shattered!
Listen, all you distant lands.
Prepare for battle, and be shattered!
Prepare for battle, and be shattered!
Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted;
Propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us.
We should be praying with such boldness that God slides to the edge of His throne and says to His angels, “Did you hear what my child just asked for?” God then smiles, shakes His head to indicate a resounding “YES” and commands His strongest, most powerful angels to go down and stand beside the army of the saints of God as they go on the offensive against Satan and his army.
So this is WHY I QUIT playing defense in the battle against Satan and I go on the offensive.
The truth of the matter is that THIS battle we are in at THIS moment at THIS time RIGHT NOW the outcome has already been written… we know EXACTLY how it ends:
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Rev. 20:10 KJV)
So why are so many just giving up and quitting the fight when we already know the outcome? If you are going to quit then quit playing defense and start fighting. It’s our time to CONQUER!
